A Public accountant, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), is responsible for taking care of auditing including financial statements, tax, forensic accounting, accounting affairs of the clientele. He is also required to provide consulting services for individuals, governments, non-profit organizations, and the corporate sector.
Management accountants are also designated as private, industrial or corporate accountants. Their task includes budgeting, Cost management, asset management, performance assessment, and reviewing of financial statements. Besides, they are also required to prepare and present financial reports for creditors, stockholders, brokers, tax authorities and regulatory bodies.
Government accountants work in co-operation with the Central, State, and local governments. They are responsible for the scrutiny and examination of the workings of public agencies and private business which are susceptible to governmental regulation and taxation. They may also be posted to the Internal Revenue Service to assist in the financial management and budget preparation of the organization.
Internal auditors are responsible for checking frauds and any kind of internal mismanagement. They undertake tasks and examine an organization's internal controls and information system and management procedures. One can seek specialization in different areas under this job such as Environmental monitoring, Law, insurance premium, electronic data processing, banking and health care. In short, they help check fraud and waste.
